Muslim Women Write the Body: Everyone has an opinion about Muslim women’s bodies. Whose bodies are revealed or hidden. Whose bodies are sites of war or liberation, beauty or honor. But what if we wrote the stories of our own bodies, in community with no one but ourselves? In this workshop series, those who identify as Muslim women will write and make art to reclaim and reflect on our identities — physically, spiritually, and in-between. Workshops will be led by collaborating Muslim women writers, visual artists, dancers, poets and musicians. Participants will work on one final written piece to be performed at the 2022 Kensington community iftar event.
